Practice makes perfect and while we aren’t exactly “perfect” yet, we sure enjoyed the practice with our third dinner of the series! Molly & I have learned that throwing a dinner party is definitely an artform in itself, with the elements coming together just so. The guests need to jive, the conversation must flow, new friendships are formed, new flavors explored, new decor to create… I could go on for days! This dinner was nothing less than another gorgeous and fun experience- with the invitees and their enthusiasm and fun spirits making the biggest impact!
The scene is set for our summer dinner at a low table we had custom built. Guests sat on lambskin rugs, grass mats and down-filled euro pillows. Talk about getting comfortable! It created the lovely, casual and relaxed vibe we wanted.
Molly and I geared up for our guests to arrive. PS: we always feel so awkward doing the “host” photo, so we pretty much just laugh and giggle our way through it!
We like to feature each guest individually so they get a great photo to use on their own blogs or websites. Our amazing photographer Christine Chang always captures their glow so beautifully.
Here, we have a photographer: Sarah Dessage, an interior ‘dee-signer’: Dee Murphy, a fitness author and overall guru: Holly Perkins, two lovely ladies of the literary world, Elizabeth & Melissa, a PR professional by day and travel blogger all other times: Christi, and to top it off, a beautiful and renowned actress: Virginia Williams . Not pictured is the lady actually taking all the pictures – the wonderfully-talented photographer (who specializes in weddings!) Christine Chang.
The decor was centered around the lovely, muted palate of these succulents designed by Sterling Landscape Design out of Orange County.
The beautiful menu cards added a tailored and fancy touch. It made us feel like we were really upping our game! Thanks to Taryn for these!
And, what dinner party is complete without a wine-tasting from a friend’s Napa vineyard? Thank you to Judge Palmer wines! Talk about getting fancy!
A cheese and charcuterie spread in very organic style, using the natural elements here with cross-section cuts of tress as serving platters to enhance our hor d’oeuvres.
Doesn’t get prettier that bright cherries and wine-colored grapes of the season.
First up on the evening’s menu: Heirloom carrot and ricotta tart with fresh herbs. A perfect summer starter.
Me, playing up the “hostess with the most-ess” duties.
Remember that bit about “guests jiving”? Looks like that’s going quite well!
Seconds on the Judge Palmer please!
Our entree was a roasted halibut fillet with wine-braised fennel, that basil-oil making another appearance as our garnish.
Molly nailed it with our gorgeous dessert of individual oilve oil cakes with homemade Eucalyptus ice cream!
All the ladies who made this evening truly LOVELY! Thank you!!!
Last but not at all least, as a PROUD Brand Ambassador for Global Knives USA, I was able to gift each lady with an 18″ Global chef’s knife! Thank you for your generosity GLOBAL! This truly is my “work-horse” knife, I use it everyday and I promise I am not just saying that!
